I think God is trying to tell me something. When someone asks me how I am, I always say, “tired.” Because it’s true.

I saw a quote from #stsilouantheathonite today that says if we have any anxieties we are still not fully trusting God. I think my constant weariness is because of the anxieties I have. The care for things that are earthly.

Like Martha, I bustle about, worrying about my work, my family. I am chronically worried about money. Were you following me hoping to follow a Saint? Because that’s not what I am, and I may never be.

How do I stop worrying about money? How do I look at the stresses in my life and not let them be anxieties?

Still so much to learn.

In my bio I am linking a beautiful work by Arvo Pärt, Silouan’s song. #arvopärt is an Estonian composer and #OrthodoxChristian that has written a lot of the music we find familiar but don’t know where it comes from.

I can recall the first moment of real belief I had, at the age of 4. My great-grandmother, a pentecostal preacher’s wife, gave me my first #bible

On the cover was a picture of Jesus, surrounded by children. He was teaching them. And she told me a bit about Him and how in this incredible book I could learn about Him and the things He taught.

From the moment I decided to try to live as He taught.

And most of the time I fail.

It’s been 44 years since then. And sometimes I do get weary of trying to do good. But interestingly enough, I don’t get tired when I just go and DO good. That, God always gives me the strength to do.

If I’m trying to draw on my own resources, when I get mired in overthinking, that’s when I’m weary.

But when I just “do”, and especially when it IS to “those who are of the household of faith”, then each step is light, steady, and not burdensome.

This is harder for someone like me than most things. I am an #enneagram5 and #overthinking is our speciality.

Time to introduce everyone to my sister, @lynguine78

Over the years we have had some ups and downs, but I love her more now than ever. She is working on launching a blog, too, and we try to set aside work days to get together and focus on that and set aside the other demands of our lives. It’s not always easy. I spent our last work day needing to manage urgent things at my job (which I love, but it was disappointing).

This girl grew up beside me in a home filled with all forms of abuse, stresses, uncertainties, and sometimes, flat out hell. But neither of us (nor our brother, who I’ll introduce later) ever settled for that. We never accepted that as our fate. We have worked hard to break patterns, raise our children better, and strive continuously to overcome what we endured.

I’m just under 7 years older than she is, and I’ve always felt fiercely protective of her. But I’m also really proud. She has no idea how proud I am. That I’m tearing up when I think of what she has endured since our childhood. And she’s let it shape her into the better and better version of herself instead of caving in and giving up.

I love you 💕 sis.
